Finance/ Admin Internship at the Center for Asian American Media (CAAM), SF (Summer 09)

Position: Finance/Administration Intern
Period: Summer 2009 (June-August/September 2009; longer term possible)
Commitment: Minimum 10-15 hours per week; flexible hours
Compensation: Unpaid; university credits may be arranged; complimentary CAAM
membership; opportunities to attend CAAM events; and access to CAAM’s extensive
film collection.

Internship Description

CAAM’s Finance/Administration team seeks a skilled, dedicated, and enthusiastic
individual to assist with the department. This position is best suited for someone who is
willing to share, learn, and gain skills in non-profit finance/ administration, media arts
organization, and the Asian-American media arts community. To learn more about

Duties

• Assist with bookkeeping
• Assist with archiving, with storage management efforts, and with event planning
• Create a creative, special internship project, tailored to the interests and skills of
the intern
• Assist with data management
• Learn office equipments and general office protocols
• Greet guests and the general public; answer and route phone calls
• Assist with miscellaneous tasks/ projects, as needed

non-profit media arts organization and community. At the end of the internship, the intern
will gain and/or improve skills in the following areas: finance (i.e. Quickbooks), office
administration, project management, and other aspects of CAAM, such as film festival,
educational distribution, membership/development, media fund, and digital media.

Qualifications

• MAC OS, PC, and Microsoft Office proficiency
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented and a team player
• Desire to learn about non-profit media arts organizing
• Knowledge/interest in Asian American independent media
