What semester and year did you join the BECA MA program?
2005-2007
What are your media emphases and practical experience? If you have graduated, what do you do now?
Emphasis: Documentary Production, Latino Popular Media, Visibility, Cyber Communities
What do I do now? What don't I do? I work several jobs, write and perform on the way to what's next. I'm currently a trainer at Apple.
What BECA classes have you taken / do you intend to take?
The required plus: 703,706,707 Documentary Production, News Crew, Media in Community Service, Women in the Media and some others I am probably blocking out. I also took some Ethnic Studies courses. Wish I had taken Experimental Production and wish I was going to Guatemala for Media in Community Service where my family is from. What an experience that would be!

Printer for Sale

Any one need a new printer? I have one still in the packaging that I didn't end up needed from HP. It's a HP Photo smart all in one printer scanner copier and with media slots for memory cards. It comes with cartridges too. I'm selling it for $100 which is what I paid for it (without the tax). Let me know because I am moving and could use the money!

Stop the Spray Video and Street Theater

These are friends of mine that worked with a filmmaker to make this fun video with a message. I'm deep these days in the mix with performers such as this and if any of you ever need some unique writers and performers for a video or other project get at me.

Some of us will be performing as part of this too. I'll be doing an acto in the form of lucha libre to talk about immigration this Saturday at the Fruitvale Bart Plaza 2-4pm and might perform one of the other days. Check it… Continue

Digital

While I was in BECA one of the topics I was interested in was cyber communities. I started out being inspired by global movements and the ways small local movements where able to connect using internet technology to organize such as in WTO protests in Seattle, the Zapatista Movement in Chiapas and how fax machines were used to get out information about the Tiananmen square protests. The Zapatistas were particularly interesting to me in how such a small local issue as land reform and self determi… Continue

the aftermath

There are some minor developments on the stolen equipment front. I have made a detailed crime report with the Oakland police. I had to go into the OPD to make the report on the next business day because they wouldn't send someone out that night. It was really frustrating seeing as the robbery happened within an hours time. How far can a person get with a large metal camera case and other equipment? I'm smart enough to know that crime scenes are not attended to as they are on TV. Not even like Co… Continue
