Thanks for this Adam. Good to know. I like Molly am totally gunning up to do the creative project. I am going to be thinking about it and gathering bits and pieces of what I need to know during every semester here. If there is one thing I would like…
Hi Sasha,
I made the dollar bill animation with the help of my younger brother Rory. He's a graphic artist and game designer. First I drew the different shapes for the mouths and tethered them to the dollar bill character. Then, Rory created a simple actionscript that took letters as input for different frames in flash. These letters matched up to the shapes. This technique utilizes something called "phenomes" which are basically the physical shapes your mouth makes when you speak.
For instance, "T" and "D" both have very similar phenomes, where the teeth are closed together. This meant that we could break down every sound into four or five different shapes, which the script would animate automatically from the letters I put in.
From there I went through the script and put in what I thought would be right sounds, and it was pretty close. Then I simply went through and made small adjustments until the voice seemed to sync up, or as close as possible.
Hope this answers your question.
Hi Sasha, how's your semester going? I hope it's all falling nicely into place. If you need any help with anything, just give me a peep. And... have you been avoiding the rain??
Hey Sasha! That's so great to hear we have mutual friends--I love those mofos! Nice to *virtually* meet you, and I hope we can chat in person soon. If you send me your email I'll put you on the email list for On A Dime...should be really fun and we'd love to have you help out in come capacity :) Thanks for saying hi -ANNIE
